What songs motivate music therapists?
The Soundtrack to Our Training
Training for a 5K takes dedication. It also takes a really good playlist.
As our Movers & Groovers team gets ready for Bolt on the Bay, we asked each music therapist one simple question:
What's the song that gets you moving?
The answers are as unique as our team, and we won't spoil them all here.
Watch the video to see how Brianna spices up her training, hear what keeps Matt going when he's running hills, find out which song has Madelene ready to run away (in the best way), and discover the tune Jenny hopes to hear again.
Whether you're training for your first 5K or just looking for a little musical motivation, we hope these picks bring a smile to your face.
Of course, our favorite music isn't just for race day. Every day at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, music therapists use individualized songs and musical experiences to help children cope with hospitalization, express themselves, and find moments of comfort and joy. Just like there's no perfect workout playlist, there's no single song that's right for every child. We meet each patient where they are and use music that's meaningful to them.
If you'd like to help keep the music playing, we'd love to have you on our team. Join the Movers & Groovers for Bolt on the Bay, or make a donation to support music therapy services for children and families.
Now press play...and see if you can guess everyone's training anthem before they reveal it.
